PLEASE log onto goldenspread.org and register. If you cannot make it to the kick-off, please email me and I will arrange for a unit kick-off within the week. We have a district goal of $10,000 (that’s 2000 cards sold) and I believe we can easily make that. Please motivate your boys and let’s seel some cards. Cinema 4, Subway, and Chicken Express are all return venders in Pampa. Subway. Wildcatter’s, Bulldog Barbers and Tio Poncho’s in Fritch are all new on the Borger card. Let’s get everyone registered, go to GoldenSpread.org for youth sales incentives and registration….this will be the best camp card yet!
Scouting for Food
In spring 2013, thousands of Scouts participating in the Scouting for Food “Good Turn” will experience the highest ideals of the Scouting movement and they will help affect someone’s life – by helping to place food on the table of those that are hungry. The Scouting for Food event is an extremely important food for the High Plains Food Bank and other food pantries throughout the Golden Spread Council. During the spring time, the demand for food increases while supply dwindles. In addition, many food drives do not take place during the spring. This is why this event is so important – it helps meet a need the High Plains Food Bank and other food pantries have during the spring time and helps keep our shelves stocked throughout the spring and summer months. Go to goldenspread.org for more information.

LONE WOLF CAMPING AND ACTIVITY CORNER-Black Mesa State Park
Lone Wolf District is introducing a new section about places to camp throughout the district. I’ve noticed some people ask me, “Where’s that?” if I talked about places to camp, go hiking, or, participate in other outdoor activities. In this month’s Camping and Activity Corner, I am going to talk about Black Mesa. Situated in the far West corner of the Oklahoma Panhandle in Cimarron County. At almost 5,000 feet, it’s the highest point in Oklahoma. It features Lake Etling, dinosaur footprints by Carrizo Creek, Robber’s Roost, and Picture Canyon across the state line into Colorado. It boasts beautiful rock formations, scenery, and outdoorsy opportunities. Kenton, OK, is nearby with a museum.

Please get your Unit Recharters turned in as soon as possible. March 1st will render Units completely inactive. I have received several more that last year at this time, but it’s very important to not have any gap in your Unit Recharter. Let’s not let advancement, and boys slip through the cracks.
IMPORTANT REMINDER: Recharters will NOT process until all leaders have current YPT, and must be in Chase Roach’s hands before March 1st.
Please contact me (Chase Roach-see info above) with any questions, comments or concerns.
Quanah Parker District Committee & Roundtable
February was a phenomenal Roundtable meeting where Troop 199 showed a beautiful OA inspired Webelos bridge ceremony, T62 demonstrated their timeless Eagle Court of Honor, and Gemma Mitchell discussed all of the ins and outs of having a very successful Cub Scout Blue and Gold Banquet. Thanks to everyone that helped and attended. All participants left with lots of great ideas to spawn into action.
The March District Roundtable is the GO TO place for the CAMP CARD KICKOFF. All units can begin selling immediately after the Roundtable. We will discuss all the details for a successful Camp Card Sell, and count and verify card quantities. We set records selling last year for Quanah Parker, and I suspect it will be even better this year. After all—the boys deserve it.
We will also remind everyone about the QP Pinewood Derby on March 23rd, at Christian Heritage Church. Here are a few details:
