It is also a chance for some fellowship with other Lone Wolf District Scouters. If there is a subject that anyone would like to know more about, these are the meetings in which that happens. For more information or suggestions for topics, please contact Lindsay Waugh, James Hayes, Vic Shrock, Jeff Wilkinson, or Jim Lear.

Lake Palo Duro Cleanup

The annual Lake Palo Duro Cleanup will happen in two weeks on April 12th, 2014 at Lake Palo Duro. The lake itself is situated 8 miles north of Spearman, TX, and is a great place to camp, fish, and hike, among other things. This is an excellent opportunity for an overnight camping event, service hours, and, time with other scouts. We had a great turnout last year, despite the wind, and, we hope to see everybody out there again this year! For more information, contact Lindsay Waugh at the information above!

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Matt Y. of Troop 104. He recently passed his Eagle Board of Review. Matt Y. is the son of Jim and Renee Y. of Turpin, OK. He is a sophomore at Turpin High School, plays many sports, and serves in many leadership roles both in school and in Scouting. He maintains a high grade point average and plans to play college ball upon graduating in two years. We wish him luck in his many endeavors!

Pack 142 Pinewood Derby

Pack 142 in Goodwell, OK, held their Pinewood Derby on February 16th, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and scouts alike enjoyed the festivities. Many of the cars were very inventive and colorful. The scouts had an incredible time. A cub scout from pack 143 also participated as he had never ran a car in a pinewood derby before. Thanks for inviting me to your event, Pack 142!

Lone Wolf Camp Cards

Camp Card Sales will be kicking off sooner this year. We have the same three cards, Lone Wolf-West, Lone Wolf-Central, and Lone Wolf-East. We will be kicking off on March 1st, 2014 in Perryton and Guymon, and, on March 4th, 2014 in Dalhart, TX. There are also new prize options this year. Let’s have a great year with Camp Cards, everybody!

Training

Hey guys! The Lone Wolf District will be offering leader-specific training on a scheduled basis, and, we are offering a training course for any leader who would like to be able to train other leaders. This way, if anyone would like to train in a classroom setting, we can do that. It’s more beneficial, and, leaders from across the district can network with other leaders.

Lone Wolf District Activities

We have some exciting news for Lone Wolf District Program this year. We have added a Fun in the Sun in Guymon at the end of May this year, and, we are working on a District Family Camping Weekend. The Family Camping Weekend would provide the opportunity for cub scouts to camp, and, Webelos to have an opportunity to camp out with troops as part of their requirements for their Arrow of Light badge. If you have any ideas for program this year, please contact Lindsay Waugh: 580-206-4795 or lindsay.waugh@scouting.org, or, Eric Newcomb at 806-202-3976 or ericbnewcomb@gmail.com.

New Year

Welcome to the New Year, Lone Wolf District! I am excited to have a great year in 2014! We have some exciting things happening, and, if you guys have any suggestions for Roundtable topics, new activities, or District committee, let us know!

Training

Hey guys! Are all your leaders trained? Most of the training is online. Only 15% of all Lone Wolf District unit level leaders have received the training that helps make program for Scouting amazing! If your unit leaders would like to receive training in a classroom setting, please contact Lindsay Waugh (email address is listed above), or, Vic Shrock at vshrock@ptsi.net. If not, you can find most of what you need online. I know that everyone is busy, however, investing a little time in Scout leader training can make all the difference in the Scouting experience for youth and adults!

Leader Awards

Volunteer leaders are what make the difference in Scouting. We have a District Banquet every year in November, and, would like to recognize more leaders and volunteers in Scouting. We want our leaders to know how awesome they are! Keep this in mind as the year goes on!
