District Meeting Attendance
For nearly two years, I have had monthly district meetings. The attendance has been mixed. District meetings are designed to help the volunteers be well prepared and informed on district and council events. I would like for everyone to take a moment to email me to tell us how to boost attendance. The council has a phone conference system that we can use so people in outlying areas do not have to travel. We can move the meeting locations around. Please email me your thoughts and let’s see if we can build on this.
District Pinewood Derby
On Saturday, May 25 will be the Adobe Walls Pinewood derby. Admission is one can of food per racer. Please contact Tsuneko Lish by email at: boo_berry00@hotmail.com for times and areas that you can help this to be a success.
Contact List
I am STILL requesting each unit send me an updated list of your unit leader, unit committee chairman, and charter representative. Please attach current phone (day and evening) as well as email so I can put together an updated unit directory to give to all AW district unit leaders.

Lake Palo Duro Cleanup
On April 13th, 2013, the Lone Wolf District held the annual Lake Palo Duro Cleanup. The attendance included Pack and Troop 256 from Perryton, Troop 551 and Troop 250 from Spearman, Troop 163 from Spearman, and Troop 548 from Fritch. Total amount of volunteers was 40, with a total of 63 youth in attendance. The day was windy, the lunch most welcome, and all of these units gave back and helped clean up one of the areas frequented by scouts every year. Thanks for all you did guys!
Pack 46 Blue and Gold
Pack 46 held its annual Blue and Gold banquet also on April 13th, 2013. Barbecue was served, as well as an assortment of wonderful and colorful desserts. The cubs put on several skits and sang a lot of songs. It was wonderful to see all of the looks on the parents faces as each cub got his advancements for the evening.
Lake Fryer Cleanup
The Lake Fryer Cleanup will be held on Saturday, May 18th, at Camp Parnell. The option to camp the nights of the 17th and 18th will be offered. Lunch will be served on the 18th and patches provided as well. Make sure to have the proper amount of leadership for all units and parents for Cub Scouts. For more information, please call Jim Lear at 806-202-4507or Lindsay Waugh at 580-206-4795, or email one of them at n5lnr@ptsi.net or lindsay.waugh@scouting.org to reserve your spot. LONE WOLF CAMPING AND ACTIVITY CORNER-Beaver Sand Dunes
How about a fun day with sand? Ok, so, it’s not the beach, but, the Beaver Sand Dunes in Beaver County does offer many other amazing activities and sights. There are 520 acres to ride about on in a dune buggy, and, 300 acres of it are sand hills. There is fishing, hiking, a playground, and two campgrounds. Do you know what one of my favorite activities as a kid on a field trip to the dunes? We would take our snow sleds and slide down the side of a sand dune. We may not always have snow to do this, so, sand is a wonderful alternative! So, next time you are in the eastern part of the Oklahoma Panhandle, stop by the Sand Dunes and take a look! Perhaps this will be the next site of your next outing!

Quanah Parker District Committee & Roundtable
April was a phenomenal Roundtable meeting with lots of conversations about fun summertime activities for packs and troops. Tim White, our new District Chair, did an incredible job of running the meeting, and keeping everyone on track. Way to go, Tim!! Thanks to everyone that helped and attended. All participants left with lots of great ideas to spawn into action. The number one thing to remember as a Volunteer Scout Leader—Kids vote with their feet… If they are enjoying a great program they will be more active. If attendance drops it’s important to re-evaluate your program. Kids want to have fun and advance in rank.
The May District Roundtable is the GO TO place for the Journey to Excellence discussions for Cub Scout and Boy Scout units. We will discuss all the details for making every unit a JTE Top Performer. Quanah Parker was a Gold Level JTE Performer last year, and we want to make sure we’re on track for a repeat!! Way to go Quanah Parker for setting some great standards last year. We are continuing to set records for activity attendance, and more excitement than ever is growing in QP for Scouting!! —the boys deserve it.
