2013 Spook-O-Ree

The 2013 Spook-O-Ree is just around the corner.  This event is Fall themed with Hayrides, Inflatable’s, BB Gun shooting, Archery shooting, Carnival type games, Spook Walk and Haunted House.  Three Saturdays at Camp Don Harrington and one Saturday at Camp MK Brown, allows all Scouts to participate and see how much FUN Scouts can have.  Originally, the Spook-O-Ree was the event to come to if you were a newly recruited Scout to show how much fun Scouting could be but now it’s become one of the best attended events in the council by both new and current Cub Scouts.  Visit the link below for all the information!

Troop Leader Guidebook to replace Scoutmaster Handbook   NEW

Photo: Goodbye Scoutmaster Handbook, hello Troop Leader Guidebook! Vol. 1 is for new troop leaders, while Vol. 2 has fresh ideas for veterans. Get a sneak peek here: http://bit.ly/16oSxzU

If you judge the Scoutmaster Handbook by its cover, you might assume it’s solely meant for, well, Scoutmasters. Assistant Scoutmasters, it seemed, were to look elsewhere for Scouting wisdom. That’s about to change. Later this year, the two-volume Troop Leader Guidebook will debut, replacing the Scoutmaster Handbook and offering helpful checklists, quick tips and fresh ideas for both new troop leaders and veteran Scouters.

2015 Unit Philmont Reservation NEW

Unit reservation requests for 2015 Expeditions for Philmont Scout Ranch will be made online beginning Monday, October 28 thru Sunday, December 1, 2013.  If you are interested in this, please see the links below.

Sale Reminders

Attention all 2013 Popcorn selling units-Your unit’s Popcorn kernel must send their email address and their physical address (no Post Office Boxes Allowed Please)to Pat here at the scout office via info@goldenspread.org  in order for your unit to be properly setup into the Trails-End Popcorn Sales system.  This should be done as soon as possible.

Also, Scout leaders don’t forget to have your scouts bring in or fax (358-7470) to the scout office copies of their full-sheet popcorn order sheets so they will be entered into the Council’s weekly Friday drawing to win $100 Academy Sports and Outdoor Gift Cards.  The remaining full-sheet drawings will be held at noon on: Oct.4, Oct.11, and on Oct.18.

Also, please encourage your scouts to become members of the $600 sales club. Remind them that if they sell $600 or more they will receive a neat Zing Air ZX Crossbow and will be invited to an exclusive swim and pizza party to be held at the WTAMU swimming center in February 2014.

Leaders remind your Scouts to knock on more neighborhood doors this year!  The Trails-End Popcorn Company has done extensive research that shows that less than 20% of all US households have ever been asked to buy Scout Popcorn and that when asked to buy, 80% of consumers will buy Popcorn from a Scout.
