District Executive

My name is Pablo Rueda, and I recently assumed the position of District Executive for the Quanah Parker District on June 10th 2010. I am excited to begin this journey, and I look forward to working with my fellow leaders and scouts within the Quanah Parker District.  I want to thank everyone who has welcomed me in the Boy Scout family, and I am eager to assist our district’s leaders and help promote our scouting cause.

Scoutreach Cub Scouts Twilight Camp

Come have a great time with our Cub Scouts! This Twilight camp will be held at Forest Hill Elementary School where Cub Scouts and their families are going to target practice with BB guns, archery and will also learn to do crafts. If there are volunteers who would like to come help set up and participate in this camp please contact Bob Altman at (806) 358-6500.  We would like to give special thanks to Bob Altman for helping us obtain permits to practice shooting BB guns and practicing archery within the Amarillo city limits. The Camp hours are: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM (Pre-registration will start at 5:30 PM) Boys must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.

 Camp Don Harrington

The district would like to thank all our great volunteers who put an outstanding effort into our camps held at Camp Don Harrington during the month of June. Each Scout that participated had a great time, and enjoyed every minute of it. Special Thanks to Katie Loyall, Doris Williams, Tiger Mitchell, Gemma Mitchell, KC Hamil, Sarah Chase, Pam Miller , Doris Williams , the Kwahadi dancers and all other volunteers involved.

Camp MK Brown

The district would like thank all of our volunteers from Troop 199 (Dumas) who showed their boys a great time during resident camp at MK Brown! We would like to give special thanks to Alan Alexander and Kyle Carter for providing their leadership and great enthusiasm to all of these boys during camp.

Every Scout Deserves a Trained Adult Leader! Very soon any unit that does not have trained adult leaders will not be able to recharter. When you are trained it makes it a lot easier for you to get involved and do things right; and the boys get a better program and a better experience. Therefore in 2010, the Golden Spread Council’s goal is to have 100% leaders trained in all districts. If your unit has changed Cubmaster or Scoutmaster, or has new parents involved in it; they should get training right away! All the necessary training is online at If you need your Scouting ID in order to log in, please feel free to contact the Scout Office at (806) 358-6500 and ask any of the staff. Also, there will be additional training during the year so pay attention for dates and sign up. If for some reason you and your leaders cannot come to training, call Katie Loyall at 806-220-9693 and let her know. Katie along with the QP Unit Commissioners will come to you and train everybody. Don’t let this drag for too long, get TRAINED!!

Important notice: Please make sure you log on your Scouting ID after taking the on-line training otherwise your training progress might not get registered in the system Logging  on your Scouting ID allows the system to track your training progress.
