Congratulations to Bob Post!

Please join me in congratulating Bob Post, for being honored with the Silver Beaver Award!  Bob is the District Commissioner for our District, and is a long-time volunteer Scouter.  As you should know, the Silver Beaver Award is the highest award a scout Council can give to a volunteer Scouter, for service to youth.  Make plans to attend the annual Council Reception, on Sunday, February 7th, 2010, in Amarillo, TX., so we can support Bob, and share in his recognition!  Our District’s newest Eagle Scouts, and District Award of Merit honoree, Tom House, will also be recognized at this reception.

Unit Recharters

Almost all of our Lone Wolf units were rechartered on time.  That is a very good achievement for our District!  If you have not yet turned in your Unit recharter, Steve will be contacting you, again.  All of our unit charters expired on December 31, 2009.  If your charter has expired we cannot post any advancements for your Scouts. For those units which have not completed the recharter process yet, it is critical that we complete this process as soon as possible!

Scouting’s 100th Birthday 1910-2010 -Scout Sunday & Sabbath Activities

Scouting’s 100th Anniversary is a remarkable milestone & we should be celebrating it, all year! I want to strongly encourage all of our units to plan and conduct Scout Sunday, or Sabbath, activities in our local communities, sometime in February.  Scouting’s 100th anniversary week of February 7th through the 13th is the ideal time, but it can be any Sunday during the month.  It is a wonderful way to celebrate and share our scouting heritage with our communities and chartering organizations.  It is the ideal time to present your unit’s 2010 Centennial Charter to your chartering organization.
